We are proud to be a part of two active alumna chapters: the Theta Zeta Alumnae Chapter and the Charlottesville Sigma Kappa Alumnae Chapter. In 2013, Theta Zeta became paired with the local alumnae chapter, and we continue to remain close. Katie Schiermeyer is the President of the Charlottesville Chapter and also serves as an Advisor in our undergraduate chapter.
Our Vice President of Alumnae Relations, Ansley Bradwell, communicates with both chapters throughout the year to keep them involved in Sigma Kappa. Alumnae members can almost always be found at our:
- Founder’s Day Celebration each year (November 2017 marks Theta Zeta’s 30th year at the University of Virginia!)
- Philanthropy events, such as our Ultra Violet Sunset 5k, Sigma Kickball Tournament, and Walk to End Alzheimer’s
- Initiation Celebrations to welcome our new undergraduate members!
In addition, alumnae members enjoy mixers throughout the year with our active undergraduate members. One of our favorite mixers we coordinate throughout the year is a mixer with our recently graduated alumnae during YAR weekend (Young Alumni Reunion) in the fall.
Joining Sigma Kappa and becoming an alumna member is a rewarding and fun experience! Being an alumna means having an expansive support network and means returning that support to undergraduate members by mentoring them and providing them networking opportunities. We at Sigma Kappa (Theta Zeta) strive to provide continual support to our members switching over from our undergraduate chapter to an alumnae chapter – because we know that Sigma Kappa is an experience that lasts a lifetime.
